Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Wilfred Osei Kweku 'Palmer,' has criticized the current state of football in Ghana, describing it as abysmal.
In recent years, Ghana football has experienced a sharp decline, with the senior national team, the Black Stars, failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This marks the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss out on Africas premier football tournament, which is set to take place in Morocco in December.
During the AFCON qualifiers, the Black Stars managed only three points from six matches, recording three draws and three defeats.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Palmer was asked to assess the state of Ghanaian football, to which he responded bluntly: Football is in an abysmal state.
When pressed to rate the performance of GFA President Kurt Okraku, the Tema Youth FC owner gave a scathing review: I would rate Kurt Okraku 3 out of 10. This is for his effort in trying, but overall, he has failed.
Despite the struggles of the Black Stars, there was a bright spot in Ghanaian football. The Black Queens have successfully secured qualification for the 2025 Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time since 2018.
