Hearts of Oak and Kotoko call for independent management of Ghana Premier League
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have called for the Ghana Premier League to be made fully autonomous and managed by an independent body.In a joint statement released on Monday, February 10, 2025, the two clubs urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to grant the league the authority to operate independently.They believe this move would ensure a fair distribution of sponsorship and TV rights revenue, ultimately improving the leagues financial structure.Their demand comes in the wake of the tragic killing of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley, who was stabbed to death after a league match.The incident has intensified calls for reforms to improve the organization and security of the domestic league.
