Charges withdrawn against four suspects in Kotoko fan Nana Pooleyâ??s murder case
The prosecution has withdrawn charges against the four individuals who were arraigned before the Fiapre Circuit Court in connection with the fatal stabbing of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, at Nsoatre.Pooley was stabbed on February 2, 2025, at Nana Kromansah Park in Twumasikrom, Bono Region, during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.The accusedIsaac Fosu, 28; Yeboah Augustine, 35; Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (Akosua Black Chinese), 37; and Yaa Asantewaa, 37had been charged with abetment of crime to wit; murder, under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29).Two other suspects, Briamah (Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, remain at large, with Briamah facing an additional murder charge.On February 7, the Fiapre Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Akua Addae Adoma, denied bail to the four, citing jurisdictional limitations as the case involves a felony. They were ordered to remain in police custody and reappear on February 10.However, at Mondays hearing, Inspector Alexander Oppong, the lead prosecutor, requested to withdraw the charges, prompting the judge to strike out the case.The prosecution team at the Bono Regional Police Headquarters is now preparing to present the case at the Sunyani District Court.So far, seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. Among them, Nsoatreman FC owner and former Sunyani West MP, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has been granted bail and is set to reappear in court on February 17, 2025.
