Prosecution withdraws case in Pooleyâ??s death at circuit court, proceedings to continue at district court
The prosecution team has withdrawn the case involving four suspects charged in connection with the murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, at the Fiapre Circuit Court.The case will now be transferred to the Sunyani District Court for continuation, according to a report by Joy Sports.Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed on February 2, 2025, at Nana Kromansah Park in Twumasikrom, near Nsoatre, during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.The incident led to the arrest of four suspects: Isaac Fosu, 28; Augustine Yeboah, 35; Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa, 37 (popularly known as Akosua Black Chinese); and Yaa Asantewaa, 37.They were charged with abetment of crime and murder under sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29).Two additional suspects, Briamah (alias Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, remain at large. Briamah faces an additional murder charge.The four arrested suspects were denied bail on February 7, 2025, as Her Honour Akua Addae Adoma ruled that the Fiapre Circuit Court lacked jurisdiction since the case involved a felony.Inspector Alexander Oppong, the prosecutor, formally requested the withdrawal of the charges at Fiapre Circuit Court.Her Honour subsequently struck out the case as withdrawn. The suspects will reappear at the Sunyani District Court on February 10, 2025.Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Police Headquarters is intensifying its prosecution efforts. Seven individuals have been arrested so far, with two suspects, including Nsoatreman FC owner and former Sunyani West MP Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, granted bail. They are expected to appear before the court again on February 17, 2025.
