GFA needs the support of clubs to implement regulations to eradicate hooliganism â?? Edmund Ackah
Samartex General Manager, Edmund Ackah, has called on Ghana Premier League clubs to support the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in implementing regulations aimed at eradicating hooliganism. His comments came after a meeting between the GFA and club representatives to address rising concerns over fan violence. The urgent meeting followed a tragic incident on Sunday at Nsoatre, where an Asante Kotoko fan was fatally stabbed during a league match against Nsoatreman FC.The Ghana Police Service has since arrested six suspects in connection with the incident.Ackah stressed that the regulations to curb hooliganism already exist, but compliance and cooperation from clubs are crucial. He also criticized the tendency among some club officials to ignore or undermine regulations by personalizing disciplinary actions. Most of the things we talked about are already in our regulations. Its a matter of compliance, and the FA needs our support to implement them. Its not about flouting the law and turning it into a personal issue, saying, This person doesnt like me, and so on. That mindset is what is killing us.Both the GFA and the clubs have condemned the violence, reiterating their commitment to promoting safety and fair play across the league.
