Alhaji Brimah 'Akanbi' explains why Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko failed to submit joint paper to GFA
Former Hearts of Oak board member, Alhaji Akanbi, has revealed why Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko did not submit their anticipated joint position paper during a meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council. This meeting and proposals are necessitated by the tragic incidents in Nsoatre that led to the demise of an Asante Kotoko fan over the weekend. The two clubs, known as the giants of Ghanaian football, had earlier announced plans to present a paper calling for stronger matchday protocols and improved standardsHowever, following Thursdays meeting with club CEOs and chairmen, the submission did not materialize.According to Akanbi, the clubs decided the paper was unnecessary after reviewing the issues discussed at the meeting. During the meeting, we realized it is not necessary for us to do any submission because almost whatever we have is the same as what we met here, especially the clubsit is the same as what we are fighting for, Akanbi explained. The development has left questions about the next steps for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. It remains unclear whether they will revisit their proposal in the future or adopt a different strategy to push for reforms aimed at enhancing football governance and matchday management in Ghana.
