Ghana Police assure justice for late Asante Kotoko fan
[caption id=attachment_1221680 align=alignnone width=848] IGP George Akuffo Dampare[/caption]The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for the family of Yaw Frimpong, the Asante Kotoko supporter who lost his life following violence at a Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo-Dampare made the assurance during a crucial meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), club officials, and other football stakeholders.The IGP revealed that investigations into the tragic incident are ongoing and that all responsible parties will be held accountable. We are committed to fixing the problem. We will get it done because it's our responsibility to protect the people of Ghana and the very fabric that brings the people together, he said.In addition to the ongoing probe, the police have approved 33 key measures aimed at improving stadium security, including the deployment of Sports Security Officers, intelligence operations, and the creation of a Sports Policing Unit.The GFA will meet Premier League clubs on February 6 to deliberate on further after postponing matchday 20 matches which was scheduled for this weekend.
