Fan education initiative to be launched in honour of Yaw Frimpong

[caption id=attachment_1221683 align=alignnone width=510] Yaw Frimpong aka Nana Pooley[/caption]The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have announced plans to introduce a nationwide fan education program aimed at curbing hooliganism at football matches.The initiative, part of broader stadium security reforms, was unveiled during a meeting between the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo-Dampare, and key football stakeholders.The move follows the tragic death of Yaw Frimpong aka Nana Pooley, an Asante Kotoko fan, during a league match against Nsoatreman FC.The new blueprint will focus on fostering a culture of respect among fans, promoting non-violent conflict resolution, and sensitizing supporters on the consequences of football-related violence.The IGP emphasized that this program will honour the memory of Frimpong while ensuring a safer matchday experience for players, officials, and fans.The Ghana Football Association will hold a follow-up meeting with Premier League clubs on February 6 to finalize implementation plans.
