GFA and Police honour late Kotoko fan Nana Pooley with stadium security reforms
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ghana Police Service have unveiled major security reforms in honour of the late Yaw Frimpong, who lost his life in a violent incident at a Ghana Premier League match.At a closed-door meeting with club representatives, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo-Dampare announced a series of interventions aimed at preventing future violence in stadiums.Key measures include the deployment of intelligence officers around teams, a fan education initiative, and the integration of sports policing into police training programs.A minute of silence was observed in memory of Frimpong, with the IGP vowing to ensure justice for his family.We are committed to fixing the problem, Dr. Akuffo-Dampare stated. Its our responsibility to protect the people of Ghana and the very fabric that brings the people together.The GFA has scheduled a follow-up meeting with Premier League clubs on February 6 to discuss additional safety measures.
