We could have chosen five stadia to host games. Not every stadium is suitable for hosting games. This could have avoided something like the demise of the fan, he said.Akanbi attributed the delays in implementing the league's autonomy to clubs failing to pay the required fees. He emphasized that venue selection plays a crucial role in ensuring fan safety. Why do we play football under duress? Nobody should accept it, and this one I will blame on ourselves, Akanbi stated. The former Hearts of Oak board member noted that the process for league autonomy was almost complete, but clubs had yet to fulfill their financial obligations. He urged clubs to take responsibility for their actions and work towards creating a safer and more enjoyable environment for fans.
