AmaZulu coach Zwane backs Ghana goalie Richard Ofori after costly error in draw against Kaizer Chiefs
AmaZulu FC co-head coach Arthur Zwane has leapt to the defence of goalkeeper Richard Ofori after the Ghanaian shot-stoppers errors denied his side maximum points in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs.It was a game filled with drama and excitement, as both teams fought hard for supremacy at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.Chiefs took the lead in the 18th minute when AmaZulu defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele unfortunately turned the ball into his own net.However, the visitors responded swiftly, with Tshepang Moremi equalizing just five minutes later.AmaZulus determination paid off when Namibia international Wazza Elmo Kambindu fired them ahead on the hour mark, putting them in control of the game.But just three minutes later, disaster struck. Ofori, who had been solid in the first half, fumbled a routine cross, allowing Chiefs to level the game at 2-2.Despite the costly mistake, Zwane stood by his goalkeeper. Speaking to SuperSport TV, he emphasized Oforis contributions.Unfortunately, football is a game of mistakes. But as I said earlier on, he kept us in the game in the first half. Sometimes, when the pressure mounts, you are bound to crack.Zwane remained optimistic, expressing faith in Oforis abilities.Now its our job as coaches to try and help him psychologically because we need him. Hes been doing fantastically well for the team, he added.With the draw, AmaZulu now sits seventh on the league table with 20 points, while Kaizer Chiefs hold fifth place with 22 points from 16 matches.
