Kotoko fan stabbing: Baffour Awuah to reappear in court on February 17
Ignatius Baffour Awuah, a former Labour Minister and Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, will reappear in the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B on February 17, 2025, in connection with the stabbing incident during the Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko Ghana Premier League match.Baffour Awuah has been charged with abetment to commit crime, to wit murder, under sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29). He was granted bail of GHC 500,000 with two sureties.Two others linked to the incident, Joseph Kyeremeh and Agyemang Duah Owusu, were also arrested. While Kyeremeh was granted bail, Duah Owusu has been remanded in police custody.Judge Eric Daning ordered Baffour Awuah to surrender his passport to the court registry for 14 days and restricted him from leaving Sunyani Municipality without court approval.The suspects were taken into custody following a violent disturbance during the match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nsoatre in the Bono Region, where a Kotoko fan was fatally stabbed. Investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement.
