Security Committee Chair DCOP Lydia Donkor visits Nsoatre after GPL violence
DCOP Lydia Donkor, Chairperson of the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Security Committee, has visited the Nana Koronmansah Park in Nsoatre as part of investigations into the violence that erupted during the Ghana Premier League clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on Sunday, February 2, 2025.She was accompanied by key officials, including Security Committee member Felix Bewu, ACP Dela Djansi, Sunyani Divisional Commander, and Superintendent Francis Numado, Sunyani District Commander.The joint Police and GFA Security delegation conducted a thorough assessment of the stadium to gather more information on the tragic events that led to the death of Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, also known as Pooley.In response to the violence, the GFA has indefinitely banned Nsoatreman FCs home ground and charged the club over its role in the incident. Kotoko have also suspended football activities until further notice.DCOP Donkors visit underscores her commitment to ensuring security at football venues, drawing from her extensive experience, including her participation in a sports security conference in Rome, Italy.The investigation aims to provide solutions that will prevent future occurrences and guarantee the safety of players, officials, and fans.
