Dreams FC condemn violence during Nsoatreman vs Asante Kotoko match, call for reforms
Ghana Premier League club Dreams FC have denounced the violent incidents that occurred during the match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on February 2, 2025, at the Nana Koromansah Park.The matchday 19 clash was overshadowed by a brawl involving players and staff from both teams, which escalated into clashes between fans, tragically resulting in the death of a Kotoko supporter, Francis Frimpong, also known as Pooley.In an official statement, Dreams FC expressed condolences to Asante Kotoko and the bereaved family while condemning the violent acts.We wish to add our voice to the condolences and sympathies being expressed to all affected individuals, especially the deceaseds family and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC fraternity, the statement read.The club highlighted the need for a comprehensive review of security protocols and policing at football matches in Ghana.They commended the Ghana Police Service for initiating investigations into the incident and emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable.Dreams FC also called for stricter regulations to deter future occurrences of hooliganism.The club stressed that football should unite people and build communities, stating, Acts of hooliganism tarnish the games reputation and create an unsafe environment, robbing clubs of the patronage needed to make football both memorable and profitable.
