Ex-Ghana assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko explains move to Medeama after Accra Lions exit
New Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has explained his decision to leave Accra Lions for the Tarkwa-based club, stating it was simply time for a new challenge.Speaking in his first interview after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal to replace Nebojsa Kapor, Tanko said:After three years, I just decided maybe I want to do something else, so thats the reason. I am still fine with the (Lions) team owners. There is no misunderstanding, I just decided to do something different, and they allowed me.Tanko guided Accra Lions to a second-place finish in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League, behind champions FC Samartex 1996.Medeama, who won the league title in the 2022-2023 season, are currently seventh in the 18-team standings.Tanko's first test with the Mauve and Yellow will be against Legon Cities on Sunday, February 2.
