Home-based players are of low quality - Former GHALCA boss Alhaji Raji
[caption id=attachment_1219464 align=alignnone width=2560] Alhaji Raji[/caption]Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman, Alhaji Ali Raji, has made a damning assessment of home-based players in Ghana, describing them as possessing very low quality.Raji's comments come amidst Ghana's struggles in youth competitions, including failing to qualify for the U-17 World Cup since 2017 and the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, despite winning the tournament in 2021.The country's home-based squad also suffered a disappointing elimination in the qualifiers for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the hands of Nigeria.I am being honest with you, the quality is very low, Raji said in an interview with Asempa FM. From the U-17, U-20, U-23, CHAN team, the quality is very low.Raji also criticised the coaches, saying they have not shown the ability to develop low-quality players into good players.He made a startling comparison, saying that some current players from top Ghanaian clubs like Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko would not even make the cut for lower-tier teams like Auroras and Anokye Stars.
