Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has announced plans by the Ministry to introduce integrity and ethics into the curriculum of kindergarten schools as part of efforts to instill discipline and honesty among pupils from the basic level.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at curbing examination malpractices, particularly during the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
By nurturing integrity at an early stage, the Ministry hoped to build a culture of discipline that discouraged cheating and other unethical practices in the education system.
Mr. Iddrisu made this known in Parliament while responding to an urgent question posed by Mr. Patrick Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, on measures being taken to address examination malpractices at examination centres.
The Minister disclosed that the Ministry was considering the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at examination centres across the country.
This, he said, would help capture and deter acts of malpractice, thereby safeguarding the credibility of national examinations.
Mr. Iddrisu emphasised that the combined approach of early moral education and technological monitoring would strengthen the integrity of Ghana’s educational system and ensure that students are assessed fairly based on merit.
