The bereaved family of the late Nana Owusu Korkor, the Akwamuhene (sub-chief) of Tanoso in the Bono East Region, has appealed to the police to speed up investigations into the gruesome murder of the sub-chief.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered from the royal family that the 76-year-old sub-chief, was allegedly shot by some unknown assailants in the early hours of Monday, November 10, 2025 on his farm at Tanoso, near Techiman.

Mr Kofi Anane, the spokesperson told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the deceased left home for the farm, only for the family to hear that he had been shot.

He said the family mobilized some youth to the scene, however discovered his lifeless body with gunshot wounds lying prostrate at the farm. 

He said the body had since been deposited at the Tanoso Mark Olive hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Describing the chief’s death as a big blow to the family and the entire Tanoso people, he said the police had since visited and condoled with the bereaved family, however they expected a swift investigation for the arrest of the perpetrators to face justice.

A source at the Bono East Regional Police Command also confirmed the incident, and added that the police had launched investigations into the alleged murder of the sub-chief.
