Mr Samson Deen, a renowned Ghanaian Sports Administrator, has been re-elected as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) for another four-year term.
This comes after securing 38 out of 40 votes at the committee’s elective congress.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Deen expressed gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue working towards strengthening Paralympic sports development across the continent.
“The confidence that you gave us let us hold it together so that North, East, Central, and Southern Africa can also benefit from the good works we have done to host their respective regional Para Games,” he said.
Mr Deen reminded newly elected executives that they were chosen to serve and represent the interests of all members who had entrusted them with leadership.
He said, “One of the difficult things about working with me is that I work to get results. If you are not delivering results, it becomes difficult to work with me.”
The re-elected President commended delegates and partners for their support and emphasised the need for unity and hard work to advance the Paralympic movement in Africa.
The congress also included the election of representatives to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) governing body, marking another important step towards strengthening Africa’s presence in global Paralympic sports administration.
