TEN SUSPECTS have been apprehended in some known criminal hideouts and illicit drug peddling joints during a major police operation in Kumasi.
The security exercise was conducted by the Bohyen District Police in the Ashanti Regional capital between 8:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on March 11, 2026.
The places that the armed policemen stormed during the successful exercise included Ohwim, Hwediem, Botentia, Asuofua, Adankwame, Barekese and Fufuo.
The unannounced swoop by the police was mainly targeted at preventing the sale and use of illicit drugs, as well as stopping criminals from operating in the above areas.
Bohyen District Police report said, “On March 11, 2026, between the hours of 0845 and 1330, the District commander, C/Supt Mr George Effah, in charge of thirteen personnel drawn from the District, conducted a swoop.
“The operation targeted criminal hideout and illicit drugs peddling joints at Ohwim Hwediem, Botentia, Asuofua, Adankwame, Barekese and Fufuo.
“The following suspects were apprehended: Stephen Adutwum, 30; Emmanuel Agyei, 22; Kofi Agyei, 20; Kwaku Darko, 19; Akwasi Tuffour, 21; Ebenezer Kusi, 20; Godfred Darko, 23; Destiny Havor, 21; Peter Nkrumah, 18 and Bashiru Gambo, 21.”
All the ten male suspects, the police statement further disclosed, “have been detained in custody to assist investigation, and those found culpable will be arraigned.”
