Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has announced that the John Mahama-led government will ensure it settles the unpaid salaries of pharmacists across the country.
Speaking during the 2025 budget reading in parliament, Dr. Forson assured that the government will address the issue of over 300 pharmacists who have not received their salaries since their engagement by the state in June 2023.
“During my engagement with the youth, I was made aware that 321 pharmacists have not been paid. We will take urgent steps to resolve this issue,” he said.
This development comes after the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) issued a press statement in August 2022, highlighting the unbearable delay in payment of salaries of pharmacists.
