The Kaase police station in Kumasi
THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has lauded the police for maintaining law and order in the country, urging the public to support the police to deliver.
According to the King, security is a shared responsibility, stressing the need for the public to support the police with the needed logistics for them to deliver on their mandate.
In a speech read on his behalf by Otumfuo Anantahene, Baffour Agyei Fosu Twitwiaka, he stated that the police should be encouraged and motivated to function well.
The occasion was during the commissioning of an ultramodern police station at Kaase in Kumasi, which was constructed by the Kaasehene, Nana Mensah Bonsu.
The Kaasehene, who is a development-oriented leader, recently constructed a modern hospital at Kaase and handed it over to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
Continuing, Otumfuo said the police to population ratio in the country is low, hence the need for all stakeholders to contribute to help the police to thrive.
He, therefore, charged the clergy and imams to always preach to their congregation to cultivate the habit of contributing to help the police to work effectively.
Lauding the Kaasehene for his tireless efforts to develop his community and make his people live better, Otumfuo also urged the police to take good care of the facility.
Nana Mensah Bonsu attributed his successful reign to the wise counsel and encouragement from his overlord, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who “is the main pillar behind me”.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, said he was impressed with the Kaasehene’s ability to build such a magnificent police station.
He admonished policemen, who would be posted to the station, to always act and behave professionally, cautioning that the police should never intimidate the public.
Significantly, the Kaasehene’s reign has brought massive transformation to Kaase. He has used his revered position to develop education, health, security and other sectors.
