Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings
AFTER eight years in office as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Korle Klottey Constituency (KKC) in Accra, residents are left largely unimpressed by the Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings’ leadership.
According to the residents, she is yet to make any meaningful impact on their lives and the overall wellbeing of constituents in the area even though she has been in office for eight years.
This has led to a growing dissatisfaction among a large section of constituents, with some describing her eight years tenure as an “achievement of failure”, saying there have been only “few achievements and more complaints.”
It is alleged that she would always lament with her usual chorus that “My government is not in power” whenever she is approached for developmental projects or assistance.
They also expressed their grave concern about what another potential four years under her leadership would look like, citing the many areas in which she has failed to make any meaningful impact.
“Zanetor hasn’t really done anything but repeatedly talks about some footbridges and some free health screening exercises; things that even leaders of Students Representative Councils (SRC) can do,” one argued.
Meanwhile, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings’ biggest opposition, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, running on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is touching lives and leaving positive imprints on almost every corner of the constituency he touches through tangible measurable projects.
Even without being an MP before, he has undertaken several key policies aimed at bettering the lives and living conditions of residents in the area.
Chief among them is his Nii Noi ‘Hewale’ Insurance card – an insurance cover that provides free health care for residents in selected health facilities across the country.
Other areas in which he has implemented key projects also include education, where he has offered a number of scholarships to students in and outside the area; talent and sports development through his Nii Noi Nortey Talent Hunt Project; sanitation and hygiene; as well as business support and entrepreneurship.
Currently, he is overseeing the construction of an ultra-modern astroturf sports facility at the Nii Amugi Avenue School in Adabraka.
He also began the construction of the second phase of some inner city roads for the Osu Police Barracks, a project that both residents and officers alike, have passionately called for.
