A Ghanaian short film titled Red For Rose, produced by Alleb Production, has been selected for the Abuja International Film Festival, which will take place from October 28 to November 1 in Abuja Nigeria.
The film is the only Ghanaian short film entry in this year’s edition and has been nominated in the Best Short Film and Best Screenplay categories.
Red For Rose tells the harrowing story of a young girl whose life is upended after she is raped at a tender age. The film delves into her emotional and psychological struggles as she deals with the trauma of the assault. Her experiences lead her down a path of vengeful acts, resulting in irreversible decisions, and highlighting the devastating consequences of violence and abuse.
Producer Bella Agyeman shared her excitement about the film’s selection.
“It feels good because Alleb Production was born on the 4th of August, and we are already international. The whole team is excited”, she said. “It’s an honour to be part of the 21st edition of the Abuja Film Festival, as this film not only tells a story but carries an important message that we are proud to share with a wider audience.”
Red For Rose will be competing for the top honours at the festival with other top films such as The Golden Boy from the UK, 12 Hours from Nigeria, Oke Okuta-Nigeria, Valet- USA and a host of others.
