Thousands of ecstatic residents of Damongo thronged the streets to welcome President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday, October 14, 2024, during his two-day visit to the Northern, North East, and Savanna regions.
The President’s visit was met with profound appreciation and gratitude from the people of Gonjaland, who credited him with fulfilling their long-awaited dream of creating the Savannah region.
A Brother from Afar
President Akufo-Addo’s achievement was seen as a testament to the idea that a true brother is not necessarily one born in the same village, but rather one who genuinely cares for the well-being of others, regardless of their geographical location.
The people of Gonjaland praised the President for his commitment to their development, particularly in the areas of education, health, road infrastructure, industrial development, and agriculture.
Cooperation and Progress
The Yagbonwura, Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, expressed his gratitude for the President’s visit and highlighted the significant contributions made towards the region’s development.
President Akufo-Addo, in turn, thanked the Jakpa stool for their cooperation in bringing peace to Dagbon and creating the Savannah region.
He also acknowledged the rapid elevation of Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, which heralded a period of progressive change and prosperity in the region.
Free Senior High School Policy
The President reflected on his 2016 campaign promise, stating that he had delivered on his commitment to provide free Senior High School education.
He noted that over 100,000 young men and women had dropped out of education annually due to financial constraints, resulting in a significant waste of human resources.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that his policies would prepare Ghana to compete successfully in the 21st century, citing examples of students winning global awards in robotics and artificial intelligence.
