Ofori-Atta
President Akufo-Addo has appointed former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as Senior Presidential Advisor and Special Envoy for International Finance and Private Sector Investment.
Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, in a letter dated February 15, 2024, asked Mr. Ofori-Atta to accept the President’s best wishes.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your reassignment and wish you the very best in this new office,” the letter indicated in part.
Meanwhile, Abena Osei-Asare, Deputy Minister of Finance in the Eastern Region, has been promoted to Minister of State at the Finance Ministry by President Akufo-Addo.
When approved by Parliament, the MP for Atiwa East will take up the role of Mohammed Amin Adam who is now the substantive Finance Minister.
President Akufo-Addo has also nominated Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng, the NPP 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Juaboso Constituency in the Western North Region, as Deputy Minister of Finance to fill the vacancy left by Abena Osei-Asare’s elevation.
The two appointments are part of President Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle, which began on February 14, 2024.
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is expected to communicate the latest appointment by President Akufo-Addo to MPs when the House resumes on Tuesday.
