The suspects
AN UNANNOUNCED police swoop has led to the arrest of 10 male suspects at Kropo in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti Region.
The nabbed suspects included Kofi Michael, 21; Yeboah Francis, 24; Dennis Akubiri, 20; Yaw Boateng, 17; and Yaw Nketiah, 20 years.
The other suspects are Aning Andrews, 20; Salisu Anass, 20; Amoako Prince, 19; Addai Philip,18; and Isaac Asante, 20 years old.
The Bohyen Police had information that, narcotics, especially Indian Hemp also known as ‘Wee’ or Ganja was sold at Kropo.
Armed with this important information, the police conducted an unannounced swoop at a ghetto in Kropo on December 12, 2023.
During the security operation, which the police has described as very successful, 10 males were apprehended at the ghetto.
The Bohyen District police report, which confirmed the arrest, said some substances, believed to be narcotics, were found on the suspects.
“Brownish substances sealed in two plastics suspected to be drugs and sachets of tramadol found at the scene were retrieved,” the report said.
According to the Bohyen police, all the suspects and the exhibits that were found at the ghetto, have been taken to the police station.
“Suspects have been detained for screening and profiling,” the report indicated, adding that investigations into the case are still underway.
