The Somanya District Police Command has arrested two persons for circulating nude pictures of a 20-year-old former student of the Yilo Krobo Secondary School.
The two, Prince Teye and the second suspect identified only as Amuzu, have appeared before the Somanya Circuit Court on charges of circulating obscene material and abetment of crime.
They pleaded not guilty and are to re-appear in court on May 23, 2017.
The details of the arrest and charges were contained in a statement issued by the Eastern Regional Police Command and signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh.
Love gone sour
According to the release, a relationship between Prince Teye and the victim fell on the rocks.
It said Prince Teye who had taken pictures of his former girlfriend during the relationship, later sent the pictures to Amuzu.
“During investigations, however, Prince mentioned Amuzu as the one he mistakenly sent the pictures to while he was trying to send it to his former girlfriend,” it said.
The release said investigations, however, revealed that the pictures were sent to Amuzu who later called the victim to demand an amount of money to ensure that the pictures were not released to the public.
On April 22, 2017 at about 1:30 p.m., the victim lodged a complaint with the police, during which she informed the police that her brother brought nude pictures of her in a sexual intercourse with her former boyfriend, which were circulating on Facebook.
According to the victim, her brother told her that it was her ex-boyfriend who did that to disgrace her.
