The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn the first batch of deputy ministers into office with a call on them to justify their appointment in the wake of a myriad of criticism that their inclusion in government was “job for the boys.”
According to the President, “Several unpalatable words have been used…, ‘obscene’, job for the boys among others” since the names of the 50 deputy ministers were announced.
Swearing the first batch of 25 deputy ministers into office at the State House Wednesday morning, President Akufo-Addo said the criticisms “impose a clear obligation on you to justify your selection.”
“Especially, as you know, there are many of your peers in the House, who have not been selected, even though they have similar traits of competence as yourselves.”
He asked them to exhibit loyalty to their sector ministers.
