Tema Youth settled for a 1-1 drawn game with Wa All Stars in their 11th-week encounter at the Tema Stadium yesterday.
The original fixture last Sunday was abandoned in the 18th minute due to a rainstorm which left the pitch waterlogged and unsuitable for football and referee William Agbovi had no other option but to apply the rules by ending the game and rescheduling it (for yesterday).
Both sides played a determined game throughout the first half but their strikers failed to connect the chances that came their way, with players such as Joseph Paintsil and Michael Kpovi the worst culprits. In the 14th minute, Paintsil’s strike from the right flank was deflected by goalie Rashid Seidu while Kpovi’s shot on the half-hour mark, from a one-on-one situation, was blocked by the Wa All Stars shot-stopper.
The second half saw the Wa lads taking control of the midfield and dictating the pace of the game. In one of such advances, a cross by Jeffery Degorl was coolly tapped in by David Abagna for the opening goal.
Tema Youth quickly readjusted their play and three minutes into added-on time, Theophilus Ogoe ghosted past the Wa All Stars defence line to nod home a free kick by Jacob Larweh right on the edge of the penalty box.
