A mine blast which occurred at Gbane in the Upper East region last Thursday is said to have killed five people.
The five, who were said to be engaged in illegal mining activities were suspected to have inhaled a poisonous chemical after the blast and died in a pit.
The police have initiated investigations into the incident, according to a report by Accra based radio station, Joy FM.
The circumstances surrounding the incident is not known as of now but the police suspect the deceased inhaled the chemicals in the pit.
