Legendary Ghanaian sound engineer Fred Kyei Mensah better known as Fredyma has made an astonishing revelation that he was in the choir with Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the running mate for the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during their time at Prempeh College.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on The Chat on Channel One TV, Fredyma who was answering a question in line with how his musical journey started said:
“When you go into my family, my maternal grandfather was a trumpeter. Okay. The local church.
So, a Sunday school people, you know, during Sundays, after Sunday school, just go to the main church and you see me sitting by the organ, we call them organist. Organist, yeah. Sitting by them, praising them.”
He continued, “The big one. Yeah, they will not allow you. So, I had the opportunity to go to a primary college and I found one, I joined the school choir. That’s where my music journey started. So, joining the school choir, I had some tutorials from our music teacher, the late Dominic.”
The most intriguing part of his submission was when he stated astonishingly, “Fortunately, in the school choir, do you know who I was in the school choir? Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh . He was a chorister. He was singing alto and I was singing tenor .”
