The Education Ministry has reiterated its plans to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by constructing educational institutions from kindergarten through to secondary school levels, aimed at educating students in the application of scientific and technological methods to tackle social issues.
The schools include the Accra STEM Academy, Sunyani STEM Academy, and Bosomtwe Public School, among others, and are yet to be commissioned in September.
Speaking at the launch of the newly built cybersecurity, digital forensic, STEM, and artificial intelligence laboratory at Wisconsin University, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, revealed plans to introduce modernised technological gadgets in secondary institutions to promote STEM.
“These are the brand-new STEM schools across the country that have been done by government. These are new Junior High schools.
“These Junior High school STEM labs will be there. Biology, chemistry and physics labs will be there. We want to change the face of Education in this country once and for all. A number of them are going to be commissioned in September.”
