The Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi, Yusif Sulemana, has expressed worry at the increasing rate of gruesome killings happening in his constituency.
This comes after a middle-aged man’s body was found in a suspected ritual killing at St. Kizito Primary School.
The victim’s body, found by the police and the community search party, was naked, with his head and genitals removed.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Yusif Sulemana stated that even though the community members are concerned about the development, many are hesitant to come forward due to the fear of becoming involved in the legal process as witnesses.
He added that, despite the efforts of the youth in the community, the head of the dead body was later found on the outskirts of Bole, towards a community known as Doli.
The remains have since been taken to the mortuary.
“This issue started not today, and so we’ve been talking to and encouraging ourselves to ensure that we report suspected cases to the police. The challenge has been that many people find it difficult to report cases to the police because there is this fear that anytime they report cases to the police and they are taken to court, they are called upon to become witnesses in the case.
“So, we are encouraging them and finding other ways of ensuring that we can report such cases in a way and manner that we can get the perpetrators.
“In this particular case, the person was killed, beheaded, and his genitals taken away. We found the head at the outset of Bole toward a community called Doli,” he stated.
In response to the escalating situation, Yusif Sulemana noted that a community watchdog group has been formed.
“We have formed a community watchdog, but of course, we needed to brief the police. They were informed, and they responded that we submit the list of members who are willing to participate in this activity to them to do their background checks. We did that, and we are waiting for them to give us the go-ahead to be able to start,” he stated.
