A burial service for the former Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency and a Council of State member, ET Mensah, is currently underway at the Forecourt of the State House.
Several dignitaries including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President John Dramani Mahama, and a host of personalities from the political divide and all walks of life are currently at the service.
Mr. Mensah died in South Africa at the age of 77 in October 2023 after battling ill health for some time. His body was later brought to Ghana in the same month.
Giving further details on the final burial rites for the late statesman, the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Ade Coker, said ET Mensah’s body was taken around some of his properties and businesses yesterday before a vigil service was held for him at Prampram on Friday.
His thanksgiving service will also take place at the Methodist Church in Prampram on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Enoch Teye Mensah (born May 17, 1946) was a Minister for Education and a Member of Parliament in Ghana from January 1997 till January 2017.
He held several portfolios in government. Until his demise, he was a member of the Council of State.
He was popularly referred to as ET Mensah and was married with seven children.
