World Vision Ghana (WVG) has demonstrated its leadership in sustainable development and humanitarian service, securing three major awards at the 2024 Sustainability & Social Investment Awards (SSI Awards).
The awards include best company in environmental sustainability project, best company in climate change mitigation project, and the humanitarian of the year, awarded to Dr. Tinah Mukunda, National Director of WVG.
WVG was recognised for its climate-action initiatives, including Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), climate-smart agriculture, community resilience programmes, and environmental education.
These interventions are helping vulnerable communities adapt to Ghana’s changing climate.
The awards also highlight WVG’s strong investments in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
The organisation aims to protect one million vulnerable children from disease by improving access to clean water and health services by 2025.
The “Humanitarian of the Year” award presented to Dr. Tinah Mukunda recognises her outstanding leadership, dedication to child well-being, and tireless efforts to advance humanitarian action in Ghana.
Under her guidance, WVG has strengthened its impact across health, WASH, education, child protection, and emergency response sectors.
In addition, WVG was acknowledged as a “Benchmark Organisation for Leadership and Excellence in Social Impact.” This honour is reserved for institutions that set national standards in social development, community empowerment, and long-term sustainability.
It reflects WVG’s consistent delivery of evidence-based, community-centered solutions that improve livelihoods and transform lives.
These awards reinforce WVG’s credibility and visibility within Ghana’s development landscape. They also serve as powerful tools for attracting strategic partnerships and mobilizing resources to scale sustainable and humanitarian initiatives.
Representatives from WVG expressed gratitude to their partners, donors, staff, and community volunteers whose dedication and collaboration made these achievements possible.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every child enjoys “life in all its fullness” while communities build resilience and thrive sustainably.
The SSI Awards is an initiative designed to recognise and encourage companies, civil society organisations (CSR), foundations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and other implementing agencies to deliver high-impact sustainability and social investment projects that align with Ghana’s commitment to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
