GAB Health Insurance Company Ltd. has marked its fifth anniversary with a strong performance, showcasing remarkable growth, sound financial results and an expanded client base.
Managing Director (MD) of the company, Joseph Abenney-Yeboah, atttributes its success to wider health coverage options and renewed confidence from clients and partners.
In an interview with the B&FT in Accra, he intimated that the company continues to perform impressively, recording an average premium growth rate of 87 percent year-on-year and maintaining a capital adequacy ratio of about 218 percent. He added that its balance sheet has grown strongly, averaging 153 percent annually, while its claims settlement ratio has ranged between 90 and 95 percent over the years. In total, it has paid more than GH¢170million in claims on behalf of members.
He further revealed that over the last five years, the firm has expanded health coverage to more than 22,000 members across the country, with a growing network of over 900 healthcare providers nationwide.
These results, Abenney-Yeboah said, show that his company has built a solid financial foundation and a reputation for reliability and efficiency in the country’s private health insurance market. “Our journey so far has been one of trust, innovation and measurable impact. These achievements reflect our dedication to improving access to affordable and quality healthcare for individuals, families and businesses, he added.

Beyond the figures, The MD said GAB Health’s success also stems from its culture of professionalism, strong corporate governance and ethical operations. He, moreover, said it has invested heavily in digital infrastructure and modern IT systems to improve efficiency and member experience.
“The company’s 24-hour medical call centre is manned by qualified professionals, and it is preparing to launch a virtual AI assistant called “Ohenewaa”, which will provide real-time support to clients,” he added.
Furthermore, he said the company has also introduced several innovative health products designed for employees, small businesses and specialised client groups. These tailor-made packages give clients flexibility and value for money. In addition, he said it has prioritised telemedicine, chronic care management and digital healthcare solutions through its “HealthyKonect” platform, helping members receive timely medical advice and treatment remotely.
The MD noted that GAB Health’s growth has been built on the trust and partnership of its members, shareholders and healthcare providers. “Our members are confident that no service provider will turn them away at the point of care,” he said, emphasising that this confidence comes from the company’s consistency in meeting its financial obligations to hospitals and clinics.

Five years of impact
The company’s fifth anniversary is themed “Five years of impact, shaping tomorrow’s healthcare.” The Managing Director said the milestone is not only a celebration of its achievements, but also a time to reflect and strengthen its vision for the future.
The event also highlighted the company’s brand refresh initiative aimed at aligning its identity with its growth and future ambitions. The MD said it will now operate under the unified brand name “GAB Health” instead of using multiple names such as GHIC or GAB Health Insurance.
The refreshed brand introduces an updated logo and a modern visual identity to enhance engagement with clients and partners. “The new brand represents who we have become – stronger, more innovative and customer-focused,” he said.
He told the B&FT that the official unveiling of the new brand and logo will take place at the Fiesta Royale Hotel on Friday, November 28, 2025, where the company will also launch its virtual assistant “Ohenewaa.”
Vision for the future
Abenney-Yeboah emphasised that his company is determined to build on its success and strengthen its leadership in the country’s private health insurance industry. He added that it plans to expand its footprint across the country, improve digital and telehealth services, and deepen partnerships with healthcare providers to improve service delivery.
The MD said the next phase will focus on preventive healthcare, wellness programmes and chronic disease management to support long-term health outcomes. The company will also continue to develop innovative insurance products to meet the changing needs of citizens and support the government’s goal of achieving universal health coverage, he further said.
“Our dream is clear,” he indicated. “We want to be Ghana’s most trusted private health insurance brand, delivering sustainable value and shaping the future of healthcare financing.”
