The Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) has held a two-day seminar on good corporate governance and transparency, aimed at contributing to the development of private sector to be ethically grounded, operationally transparent and competitive in both local and international markets.

The seminar, which was held in Accra according to GEA, was also to equip employers and businesses to implement good corporate governance, transparency and anti-bribery standards, building on the ISO 37001 (Anti-Bribery Management Systems).
Addressing participants at the event, Chief Executive Officer of GEA, Mr. Alex Frimpong, said the seminar was held at an opportune moment when national and global business landscapes are evolving rapidly, and enterprises are increasingly being held to higher standards of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. “Today, investors, regulators and consumers expect enterprises and businesses to go beyond the bottom line to demonstrate high levels of integrity and social responsibility” he said.
According to Mr. Frimpong, good corporate governance and transparency are not merely regulatory obligations, but have become essential prerequisites for business sustainability, investor confidence and organisational reputation.
At the seminar, participants delved into key elements of good governance and anti-bribery management systems, including the principles and requirements of ISO 37001, risk assessment methodologies, internal control frameworks and third-party due diligence and transparency mechanisms.
The sessions, facilitated by GEA’s legal and industry experts, combined conceptual insights with practical tools that participants can directly apply within their organisations. At the end of the two days, participants said they have acquired key concrete action plans tailored to their organisation’s context, one that will guide the implementation of improved governance, anti-bribery and transparency measures.
The GEA maintained that implementing such frameworks is a continuous process of learning, adaptation and improvement. “The GEA, with support from our partners, will continue to provide technical assistance and platforms such as this to help employers of Ghana benchmark their operations against international best practices,” Mr. Frimpong indicated.
The event was supported by the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) as part of its long-standing commitment to strengthening Ghana’s private sector progress through knowledge exchange, ethical business development and sustainable enterprise growth, among others. Other key partners, including DNV Ghana, provided technical expertise and professionalism, which has been instrumental in the execution of the seminar.
