Africon AI, a Ghana-based Artificial Intelligence training and innovation company, has partnered with the African Union Commission (AUC) to deliver a groundbreaking AI Masterclass on Financial Management, Budgeting and Reporting, aimed at building institutional capacity for digital transformation across the continent.
The two-day training, held from October 24–25, 2025, brought together senior finance and policy professionals from multiple African Union departments and divisions at the Africon AI Training & Innovation Centre in Accra — marking both Africon’s first multi-country in-person AI training and the first major training programme hosted at its new facility.
Facilitated by Gideon Asare, Founder of Africon AI, and the team at Africon, the masterclass focused on equipping AU professionals with practical, hands-on skills in using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gamma, Read AI, Comet (Perplexity) and NotebookLM to enhance financial reporting, budgeting and data-driven decision-making.

“This collaboration with the African Union reflects our shared commitment to helping African institutions harness the power of AI responsibly and effectively,” said Gideon Asare, Founder and Lead Facilitator of Africon AI. “We believe financial innovation is not just about numbers — it’s about insight, speed and clarity. AI allows institutions like the AU to deliver all three at scale.”
The training introduced participants to Africon’s proprietary prompt frameworks —CRIT — developed to help professionals structure effective prompts for financial analysis, audit reporting and policy drafting. Through group projects, participants applied these frameworks using real financial data and explored how AI can automate reporting processes, visualise data with tools like Gamma and improve compliance documentation.
“The enthusiasm and engagement from AU participants were remarkable,” said Rhodaline Animah, Training Coordinator at Africon. “This training showed how quickly finance professionals can adapt to AI tools once they see real-world use cases aligned with their work.”
The Africon AI Training & Innovation Centre, located in East Legon, Accra, serves as a hub for AI learning and collaboration across Africa. The facility offers both in-person and virtual corporate AI programmes for banks, insurance firms, public institutions, NGOs, and development organisations.
This partnership with the African Union follows Africon’s growing portfolio of institutional clients, including DKT International Ghana, where the company recently completed a corporate AI training programme during the same week — marking Africon’s first dual institutional engagement since its inception.
“Our vision is to make Africa not just a consumer of AI, but a creator and leader in its responsible use,” added Asare. “We’re proud that institutions like the African Union are setting that example.”
