Chief Finance Officer of MTN Ghana, Antoinette Kwofie, has urged young people to set ambitious but achievable goals and take deliberate steps to realise them, stressing that perseverance and preparation are key to success.
She was speaking at the 10th Youth Empowerment Summit of the Martha Inspires Foundation in Tamale, which attracted more than 3,000 students and stakeholders to celebrate a decade of mentorship and literacy initiatives.
Ms. Kwofie, MTN Ghana’s first female and first Ghanaian CFO, encouraged participants not to let the excitement of the event fade quickly. “It is easy to feel inspired in a room like this, but what matters is the action you take afterwards” she said. She added that her own career was built on self-belief and resilience rather than privilege.
She also encouraged the youth to make use of technology and available opportunities to enhance their skills and prospects.
Other speakers at the summit included Rev. Aaron Lambon Fant of the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God Church, who urged young people to cultivate discipline, avoid procrastination and build positive habits. “Legacy is not built later; it is built daily. You are what you repeatedly do,” he said, calling for self-mastery and resilience.
Martha Anabila, CEO of the Martha Inspires Foundation, described the 10th anniversary as the beginning of a new phase, with a focus on deepening mentorship and expanding literacy programmes across northern Ghana. “Once you get in touch with Martha Inspires Foundation and you are able to read, your life will never be the same because reading is our hallmark,” she said.
Launched in 2015, the Youth Empowerment Summit has become the foundation’s flagship event, providing a platform for mentorship, literacy promotion and networking for young people in northern Ghana.
