The Kingmaker of the Kwahu Traditional Council, in a historic ceremony, has enstooled a native of the land, Baffour Akoto Osei, an astute Civil Engineer, as the new paramount Chief (Kwahumanhene), marking a new era for the people of Kwahu.
With his ascension to the throne, Baffour Akoto was bestowed with the Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III stool. Upon enstoolment, he outlined his vision for the people with a pledge to bring about transformative change in the region.
Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III highlighted his vision to create a prosperous and vibrant Kwahuman, where the youth can harness opportunities, thrive and reach their full potential.
The comprehensive development plan for Kwahuman focuses on key areas such as education, youth development, aged support mechanisms, sports, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
Recounting the sad state Kwahuman was plunged into recently due to the issues surrounding its outgone paramount chief leading to his destoolment, Daasebre Boateng III emphasised his commitment to preserve the integrity and pride of the natives, uphold its rich cultural heritage, while promoting tourism and investment in the region.
Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III succeeds the former paramount chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, who was recently destooled in October 2024.
The enstoolment ceremony was attended by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and members of the adjourning Kwahu communities, who gathered to witness the historic event.
Daasebre’s Boateng III vision for the Kwahu traditional seat of governance -Abene includes; redeveloping the omanhene’s palace and upgrading the outlook of the palace as other paramountcy have achieved; establishing a technical school to bring in activities to grow the town and make it lively; and institute a mechanism to take care of the aged in Abene.
Other development plans for the entire Kwahu enclave include; reviving and re-institute the Kwahu educational endowment fund (KEEF); spreading the benefits of farming to the youth to take ownership of the crown as the ‘food basket’ of the country; getting the Ghana Highway Authority and the Electricity of Ghana to prioritise safety on the Kwahu ridge by providing street lights, road markings and signage on Kwahu access roads; and to work with the current Okwahu United Football club management to recapture its past greatness and to put on sound business principles, among other initiatives.
The kingmakers and the traditional council, found Baffour Osei Akoto, to be of outstanding character and patriotic to the Kwahu State over the years, hence the decision to honour him and give him the power to lead the people.
Daasebre Boateng III is royal of the Etena Clan of Nkwatia and trace his roots through the matrilineal lineage of Yaa Asieduaa whose mother was Yaa Amoah (Dansoa) a fourth generation descendant Aberewa Oforiwaa and whose mother was Obaapayin Adwoa Pokuaa.
