Poetry Corner: Country Contradiction

Buried under a sea of hydra headed aches

Great minds must rise to the occasion

For a country in a shambles

Great minds must rise above petty trivialities

Great minds must unravel a sea of puzzles

 

And yet great minds stay buried

Buried under a sea of Nay and Aye in the Sanhedrin

Great minds shift back and forth

In search of utopian heights

For a country in crises

Great minds wallow in an empty search for utopian solutions

For a country craving economic salvation

Great minds crave pecuniary gratification

 

Great minds hide under slogans

To discard great suggestions from differing camps

Great minds whine under superlative labels

…that one was incompetent

…this one is super incompetent

 

Buried under a sea of burdens

But still buried under a mud of disputations

When the Nays and Ayes have disputes

Great minds show up a hand to be counted

…the Ayes have it

…the Nays have lost it

Great minds divide into factions

…we’re majority

…we’re minority

 

Great minds remain in a wobbling wander land

Wobbling to create a wonderland of a motherland

Buried under a sea of environmental annihilation

Great men agree to agree

To scratch a back nearby

Great men agree to agree

To be environmentally naughty

Great men share the spoils from degraded surroundings

 

Great men mime together

We swim together or sink together

We move together or perish together

Great men sing together

We’re together as one…together

 

Great men agree to keep water nearby

When there is a sleazy beard nearby

Great men agree to pour cold water

When a Pandora’s box is opened

When a can of worms is spilled

 

Great men know when to gather and sell

And together no one to tell

Great men know where to hide the loot

Together we work in unity

Together we sneak in to commit sleaze

Divided we are filmed in an expose’

 

Great men have a great solution

Together we are a proud minority

Proudly oppressing the impoverished majority

 

Great men have no Great solution

Great men are part of the Great problem
