The Palms Convention Center, a state-of-the-art facility, has been launched to support other conventional centres to boost the activities of the hospitality sector and position the industry for growth.
The General Manager of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Antony Ghansah, indicated that the focus has shifted toward hosting conferences and meetings as discussions were initiated about the potential to expand the hotel’s offerings.
“Recognising that we were losing business to other countries with larger facilities in Europe and Africa, we decided to leverage our available space and capabilities. This led us to envision a grand structure that could cater for the needs of businesses seeking event venues. After much planning and hard work, our dream has now materialised into a reality. Today, we proudly present a truly exceptional addition to the market, setting us apart from the competition,” he said.
The Palms Convention Center was put together through a collaboration between La Palm Royal Beach Hotel and Event Africa Resources. It boasts unique features such as a large entrance, live glass expanse and open space design. The centre is versatile and can accommodate events of various sizes from 1500 to 4000 attendees, with configurations including cabaret and theatre styles. The centre also boasts amenities including air conditioning, a generator, washrooms and secure parking.
Mr. Ghansah mentioned that before the completion of The Palms Convention Centre, a temporary set-up was put in place and hosted the Federation of Surveyors for their annual conference. This experience, he said, solidified their belief that the facility would be a game-changer.
The size of the convention center is one of the largest and offers a multi-purpose space that can cater for a wide range of events, from conferences to exhibitions. The General Manager mentioned the inclusion of a hotel within the complex, providing convenience and comfort all under one roof.
Speaking on maintaining the centre to continuously attract businesses, Mr. Ghansah said: “We are undertaking this project in collaboration with our partners who have successfully established similar structures in other parts of the country. These facilities have been in operation for many years and are still in excellent condition.
“I have full confidence that our partners will bring the same level of expertise and commitment to this project, ensuring that when you return here next year, or even five years from now, the structure will continue to maintain its original condition.”
