Registered voters across the country will have until September 20 to check their names and particulars in the voters register following extension of the voters register exhibition period.
A statement from the Electoral Commission (EC) signed and issued in Accra yesterday by Sylvia Annoh, Acting Director of Public Affairs, EC, said the closing date for the exercise had been moved from September 17 to 20.
All voters who registered in 2012 and 2019, the statement said, were expected to go to their designated exhibition centres throughout the country to participate in the exercise.
Additionally, the voters were also to provide information to help expunge the names of dead and unqualified persons from the voters register.
The statement appealed to the public to cooperate with the EC operatives on the field to make the exercise successful.
On September 10 this year, the EC commenced an eight-day exhibition of the voters register, meant to clean the register ahead of the upcoming referendum on the participation of political parties in district level elections.
The exercise provided an opportunity for the about 17 million registered voters to authenticate their details in the register.
It was also to rid the register of unqualified people who got registered between 2012 and this year.
The EC announced that all the 30,702 polling centres across the country would be opened for registered voters to check their details.
The Commission further called on all stakeholders and members of the public to take a keen interest in the exhibition of the voters register.
