Former head of the Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have filed a defamation lawsuit against Attorney General Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, citing comments made during a press conference on March 24, 2025.
In a writ filed on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the couple alleges that Dr. Ayine publicly accused them of various criminal acts during the press briefing, and that these accusations were false, damaging, and made without justification.
The plaintiffs are seeking exemplary and punitive damages, describing Dr. Ayine’s statements as “highly offensive, defamatory,” and argue that the remarks, made in a widely broadcast public forum, have seriously harmed their personal and professional reputations.

The writ of summons filed in the High Court of Justice, Accra, lists the following claims by the plaintiffs against the defendant:
- Exemplary and punitive damages against the Defendant for publishing and/or broadcasting highly offensive, defamatory material of and concerning the Plaintiffs in his press conference dated the 24th day of March 2025.
- An order of perpetual injunction restraining the Defendant from further publishing and/or broadcasting or causing to be published and/or broadcast the said or similar words defamatory of the Plaintiff.
- Costs, including lawyer’s professional fees.
