Security Consultant, Richard Kumadoe has asserted that Assin South MP, John Ntim Fordjour who alleged that some suspicious flight with drugs landed at KIA seems to be dictating the course and timelines of investigation into the allegations.
Since he made the allegations, Ntim Fordjour has been engaged in social media commentaries with Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu who has described the MP’s claim as “false”.
Although, Felix Kwakye Ofosu claimed that Ntim Fordjour chickened out of invitation by government to assist with investigations into the matter, the Assin South MP said he has not received any such invitation by government.
Ntim Fordjour further claimed that government blocked his request for a security briefing on the matter which he said would have given him the chance to share information with the security agencies.
But Mr. Kumadoe opined that the MP by his actions is determining the course of the investigations which he (Richard Kumadoe) disagrees to.
He noted that the MP by raising the allegation has acted just as a whistleblower, hence cannot determine the timelines and course of investigation.
Richard Kumadoe said following President Mahama’s directive for BNI to investigate the matter, one would have thought that there would be calm while Ghanaians await the outcome of the investigations by the BNI.
In an interview on TV3 New Day’s Big Issue on Monday, April 7, 2025, he explained that the outcome of the BNI investigations will then be forwarded to the Attorney-General for further action.
“In this particular case, my understanding and it seems to me that the MP is dictating the course of the investigations, he’s dictating the deadlines of the investigation and he’s dictating the timelines of the investigations and that is why we are having this front and back.
“I was thinking that once the President said the BNI should take a leading role together with the police and national security coordinator, we will wait and once the investigation is done, it becomes clear.
“How would it become clear? Whatever the BNI will do, an outcome of their investigations would land on the desk of the Attorney General who is the number one prosecutor in this country,” he explained.
He urged the MP to allow investigations to proceed into the matter to avoid the issue being politicized.
“So, let’s even say what the MP is saying is true, if he does not allow the investigators to finish their work for the Attorney General to have a full glare of what has happened, then it becomes a political issue,” Kumadoe added.
Mr. Kumade expressed worry over the recent development on the matter.
“I think that the trajectory of the MP and the path he’s on, I think it can be slippery sometimes and caution will have to be taken and I forewarn that if we run it this way, we might get to a place where everybody will say anything and they will not allow the security agencies to investigate.”
Meanwhile, the Government of Ghana has strongly denied allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering linked to two aircraft that recently landed at Kotoka International Airport.
Providing technical explanations and releasing video evidence to support its stance, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Government Spokesperson, took to social media on Sunday, April 6, to refute claims made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who had alleged that the aircraft were involved in transporting drugs and cash.
