The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the commencement of the issuance of Ghana Cards in the Greater Accra Region, starting Monday, April 7, 2025.
The exercise covers both the backlog of printed cards and new registrations at all NIA District Offices.
According to the NIA, all Ghanaians who applied for card issuance, replacements, or updates to their personal records since June 2023 but have not yet received their cards, can now collect them from the respective District Offices where they registered.
Additionally, Ghanaians aged 15 years and above who have not yet registered for the Ghana Card are encouraged to do so starting April 7 at any NIA District Office in the Greater Accra Region.
The NIA has strongly emphasized that the issuance of printed backlog cards and first-time registrations is completely free of charge.
The Authority is urging the public to report any NIA staff who request fees for these services, as such actions are unauthorized.
Services such as card replacement and personal record updates, however, will continue to attract the usual fees at District Offices.
The NIA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian obtains the Ghana Card as a vital tool for identification.
