Tensions ran high in the early hours of April 5 as Talensi Youth set fire to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in a dramatic rejection of the District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee.
The attack on the party office occurred hours after the release of nominees for the 15 Municipal and District Assemblies.
While specific reasons behind the youth’s disapproval of the DCE nominee are unclear, sources within the party say the nominee’s association with certain chiefs in the area may have triggered his rejection.
The Police have since taken over the town and an investigation has begun.
