The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akoboah, has charged assembly staff across the region to uphold integrity and avoid corrupt practices that hinder progress.
Speaking at the confirmation ceremonies for the newly approved District Chief Executives for Dormaa West and Berekum West, the minister emphasized that teamwork and hard work are essential for local development.
“Let me caution all assembly staff: eschew corruption and focus on supporting your DCEs to deliver development. The government’s agenda for growth depends on your commitment and discipline at the local level.”
In a historic move, the Dormaa West and Berekum West District Assemblies have confirmed their respective District Chief Executive (DCE) nominees with a resounding 100% endorsement. The overwhelming support signals strong unity and confidence in the nominees to lead development in their districts.
Beginning in Dormaa West, all 14 assembly members present out of a total of 17 voted unanimously to confirm Mr. Stephen Azorba Awuni as the new DCE. The assembly comprises 10 elected members, 5 government appointees, and 2 ex-officio members.
Before the confirmation, the assembly first elected a Presiding Member (PM) after operating without one for four years. Mr. Evans Agyemang Yeboah was chosen with a 100% endorsement, paving the way for a smooth DCE approval process.
In his acceptance speech, the new Dormaa West DCE, the honourable Evans Agyemang Yeboah emphasised that his successful confirmation reflects a strong mandate for him to deliver on his mandates.
“I invite everyone of you to join me on this journey of service and transformation. My administration will be development oriented, and people centered ensuring that Dormaa West District experiences significant socio-economic progress and together we can move Dormaa West forward” he emphasised.
Similarly, in Berekum West, Mr. Collins Asumah received near-unanimous backing, with 27 out of 28 assembly members present voting in his favor. His confirmation underscores the assembly’s readiness to collaborate with him in advancing local governance and development.
The newly confirmed DCE, whose appointment was overwhelmingly endorsed by assembly members, pledged to prioritize infrastructure, education, and job creation.
“My focus will be on improving infrastructure, economic growth and job creation. Education is my hallmark youth empowerment, good governance and transparency, apprenticeship and entrepreneurship, improving local economy through sports, decent healthcare, proper use of the resources and many more.”
In an interview the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyereh Dua, promised to work closely with the DCE to advance human capital development in the district.
“He is going into work, no honeymoon and with my full support we’re going to see a lot of developmental projects in Berekum West.”
With this renewed commitment from both political and administrative leaders, residents are optimistic about accelerated development in the region.
