ECG Containers: How come we never heard about ‘so-called’ evacuation by National Security from Energy Minister?- Ntim Fordjour

Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, is questioning why the Minister of Energy, John Jinapor, never mentioned the evacuation of the missing containers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) by the National Security.

The evacuation directive comes amid reports of missing ECG containers. Over the past months, concerns have been raised regarding the disappearance or delay in clearing vital electrical equipment meant for national power distribution.

“Where are the missing ECG containers worth over $700 million? Could these 706 containers evacuated by National Security be part of the missing 1340 containers? Have they accounted for the equipment and logistics contained in the 706 containers in the custody of NS? How come we never heard about this so-called evacuation by NS in any of the briefings provided by the Energy Minister thus far? We need coherent answers. We need all the containers accounted for!” Ntim Fordjour wrote on his X page in reaction to the news that the National Security Council Secretariat formally requested assistance from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to evacuate 706 containers belonging to the ECG.
